January-November 2018, Indonesian Coal Exports Grow 7%

Jakarta, APBI-ICMA: Katadata.co.id February 28, 2019 reported that sales up to November 2018 had reached 97.87% of total sales throughout 2017.

Indonesia's coal export volume from January to November 2018 grew 7.22% to 312.3 million tons from the same period the previous year. Increased exports to Thailand (26.5%), the Philippines (19.14%), and Vietnam (87.5%) were able to support the performance of national coal exports.

Likewise, the export value for the January-November 2018 period grew by 16.71% to US $ 18.9 billion or equivalent to Rp 265 trillion from the same period the previous year. This amount has reached 97.87% of total sales throughout 2017. The growth of this export is in line with rising coal prices in the international market to US $ 119.57 / metric ton in July 2018.

The largest Indonesian coal export market is India, which reaches 99.14 million tons. China followed with 44.8 million tons in second place and Korea 33.3 million tons.
